CAR giant Jaguar yesterday unveiled plans to create up to 10,000 new UK jobs as ‘Brexit Britain’ defied the doom-mongers.In an astonishing pledge, Jaguar said it hoped to use the West Midlands as the base for its new electric car.Boss Ralf Speth said he wanted the Government to commit to investing £450 million in necessary infrastructure to help Britain’s auto sector become a global hub for the non-petrol motor.He warned Britain was in a race with Germany to deliver on its pledge to put electric vehicles at the heart of its industrial strategy.But Jaguar Land Rover confirmed he had revealed his desire “to make the UK a global centre of excellence”.The huge boost came as official figures revealed a surge in business investment and the biggest jump in high street sales for a year.Shocked economists were forced to nudge up forecasts for the UK economy for 2017.The Office for National Statistics said economic growth between July and September was 0.5 per cent higher than the previous three months.And it said business investment was nearly 1 per cent higher to £44 billion – despite a wave of pre-Referendum warnings that companies would slash spending if Britain voted ‘Out’.The low Pound sent… Read full this story
