New series of Netflix hit Glow wrestles with gender pay gap

No sooner has one bada** female-centric comedy-drama series ended for good, than another one pops up to fill the gaping chasm left behind in the summer streaming landscape. Yes: it’s so long to the banged-up ladies of Litchfield as Orange is the New Black (arguably the show that introduced the world to the joys and perils of an entire weekend lost to the binge, and in doing so changed the television commissioning landscape forever) comes to a close after a glorious, groundbreaking seven series run, and hello to the be-costumed women of the ring, as GLOW returns for a third offering when the complete 10-episode run drops on Netflix tonight. Fewer jumpsuits and handcuffs, more leotards and roundhouse kicks — but with the same broad intention of telling complex stories about female friendship and sexual politics.
