Earlier the PM said that schools will not reopen until at least March 8, in a blow to millions of parents. He also said that no other sectors of society currently shut, including hospitality, will open up until after that date. Mr Johnson also confirmed that travellers returning from South Africa, Portugal and South America will be forced to quarantine in government facilities for 10 days. This comes after the UK became just the fifth country in the world to pass 100,000 deaths. The Prime Minister has faced fierce criticism over his handling of the pandemic, with coronavirus claiming more lives in this country than anywhere in Europe.
