Ole Miss enters the SEC Softball Tournament tonight at 6:30 p.m. CT in Gainesville, Fla. The 8th-seeded Rebels (38-16, 12-12 SEC) battle the No. 9-seed Georgia Bulldogs (40-14, 12-12 SEC) in the second round of the single elimination event. No. 12-seed Texas A&M defeated 13th-seeded South Carolina in Tuesday’s night’s only game of the single-elimination event. This will be the fourth consecutive meeting on the softball diamond between Ole Miss and Georgia. The Rebels took two of three games in Athens last weekend to secure their No. 8 seed. Ole Miss has won nine of its last 11 games, including a series sweep at South Carolina and taking series at home versus Tennessee and on the road at Georgia to close the season. The Rebels were rewarded with a No. 25 national ranking from D1Softball on Monday. “I’m extremely proud of how we responded and what we’ve been able to do over these last couple of weekends heading into conference play,” Ole Miss head coach Jamie Trachsel said.
