SPOILER ALERT: The story includes details about the March 11 episodes of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19. The dramatic crossover midseason premiere of Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy culminated with the death of a beloved doctor, Andrew DeLuca, played by Giacomo Gianniotti for the past six years. He joined other Grey Sloan doctors who died heroes while saving strangers’ lives, including Derek Shepherd and George O’Malley. Along by his sister Carina, played by Grey’s alumna Stefania Spampinato, who now is a series regular on Station 19. DeLuca rushed to follow suspected kidnapping kingpin Opal. He was able to track her long enough for police to arrest her, but he was stabbed in the process, and while Owen and Teddy initially were able to stabilize him, DeLuca eventually died of his wounds. (You can read Deadline’s recap and an interview with Grey’s and Station 19 showrunner Krista Vernoff, in which she explains the decision to kill off DeLuca, here .) … [Read more...] about ‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Giacomo Gianniotti On Shocking Ending, DeLuca’s Journey & Coming Full-Circle

There are few ancient creatures as controversial as the Tully monster , a bowling-pin-sized oddity with eyes like a hammerhead that lived about 307 million years ago. Now, after decades of studies, each with a different take on how to define the weird aquatic creature, the Tully monster has been decoded: It's a vertebrate, meaning it had a backbone, a new study finds. Scientists analyzed the chemical residues left on fossilized remains of the Tully monster ( Tullimonstrum gregarium ) and compared them with the chemical remnants on other vertebrate and invertebrate fossils from the monster's ancient home in what is now Mazon Creek in northeastern Illinois, said study lead researcher Victoria McCoy, a visiting assistant professor of geosciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. McCoy and her colleagues took a "chemical approach" rather than looking at the Tully monster's fossilized anatomy, which is "kind of like a Rorschach test ," McCoy told Live Science. … [Read more...] about Ancient ‘Tully monster’ was a vertebrate, not a spineless blob, study claims
Eleven-year-old Will Page is sitting on a Scottish beach, imploring his math-teacher father to teach him “what economics means.” His father points to the water and asks him how a politician should combat a rise in child drowning deaths. “Why not make swimming lessons compulsory?” Page suggests. “No more children should drown — surely we need to ensure they can all swim.” “Do people who can’t swim usually go in the sea?” asks his father. “So, would we have more or fewer children in the water as a result of your policy? And if a certain percentage of children swimming drown, then…” More would drown, Page realizes, with a thudding feeling. His answer, though intuitive, would actually exacerbate the problem; a better, but less straightforward, solution might be to design alert systems for dangerous tides. It’s his first lesson in what the modern-day Page calls “pivotal thinking” — which, in turn, is one of the eight principles comprising Tarzan Economics , Page’s treatise on … [Read more...] about An Ex-Spotify Exec Breaks Down Modern Music’s ‘Tarzan Economics’
Josh Myers relishes the possibility he could take over for an All-Pro centre. Amari Rodgers hopes he gets the chance to run pass patterns for the league’s reigning MVP. The Green Bay Packers spent Friday’s portion of the NFL draft selecting Myers in the second round and trading up seven spots to take Rodgers in the third round. The new teammates faced off in a College Football Playoff semifinal last season, as Myers helped Ohio State defeat Rodgers’ Clemson team. “They’re both really good players, and their wiring and the character of who these guys are really impresses me,” general manager Brian Gutekunst said. The moves come one day after the Packers drafted Georgia cornerback Eric Stokes with the 29th overall pick. Depth at cornerback and the offensive line were considered two of the Packers’ biggest needs heading into the draft. The Packers also needed to add receivers after not selecting any wideouts in the 2019 or 2020 drafts. Myers could have an immediate chance to … [Read more...] about Packers take Ohio St C Josh Myers, Clemson WR Amari Rodgers
NCIS is currently taking a two week hiatus after the huge cliffhanger that Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon) has been suspended . This plot twist, however, could spell the beginning of the end for the CBS show, which has already run for 18 seasons and over 400 episodes. With Mark Harmon's contract for the procedural ending at the end of Season 18, The Hollywood Reporter wrote that the actor had tried to leave the series. However, after being told that if he left the show it would be canceled, he agreed to guest star in a number of episodes of the next season. However, with Harmon looking to limit his time on the show it would seem that the series is winding down. A similar thing is currently happening on another long-running network drama, Grey's Anatomy. On that show, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) has spent the majority of the current season in a coma , with the actress only appearing in some sort of limbo state where she keeps meeting former stars of the ABC show . This … [Read more...] about ‘NCIS’: Will Season 19 Be the Last Ever Season?
