KUALA LUMPUR: Some RM25,000 worth of firecrackers along with ketum leaves and juice worth almost RM1,000 were seized following checks at a food court in Kampung Baru here. Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said policemen on Covid-19 compliance operation rounds were checking one of the stalls at the food court at about 4am on Wednesday (April 21) when they discovered the items. "We arrested an Indonesian man and a local man in their 30s and 50s. "The local had records for various offences including drug-related ones," he said when contacted on Thursday (April 22). ACP Mohamad Zainal said investigations revealed that the firecrackers were meant to be sold around the city for Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations. "We also believe the men were planning to distribute the ketum juice to addicts in the city. JOHOR BARU: Police here raided a Taman Sri Tebrau restaurant here and arrested 18 Vietnamese women for being in the state without valid documents Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Padzli Mohd Zain said that the suspects are aged between 23 to 51 and were arrested during the Ops Noda raid that was conducted at about 10.10pm on Tuesday (April 20). “The women are believed to be working as guest relations officers (GROs). Some of them tried to flee upon seeing the police but were later caught," said ACP Mohd Padzli. “All of the suspects were arrested to check their travel records with the Immigration Department, ” he added in a statement here on Wednesday (April 21).
