Navi Mumbai: Man jumps into Vashi creek after a fight with girlfriend
Police and local fishermen rescue the 21-year-old who tried to kill himself In a shocking incident, a man allegedly attempted suicide by jumping into Vashi creek in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday, after a spat with his girlfriend. On Wednesday, the police informed that a 21-year-old man jumped from the Vashi Bridge into the creek shortly before midnight on Tuesday. As soon as the police officials received an alert in Navi Mumbai control room, they immediately rushed to the spot. On reaching the spot, a team of Vashi police officials found a woman crying at the scene and informed the cops that her boyfriend Ravi Reddy had jumped into the creek following a quarrel. The Vashi police enlisted the help of some home guards, personnel from Disaster Control and two fishermen to rescue the man. They took a boat and removed the man from the creek. Officials also informed that the man was just about to drown. The recent uptick in infections and death in Nigeria is mainly as a result of the fact that the authorities choose not to lockdown the country during this second wave of COVID-19 because of the fragility of the economy. That’s unlike what currently obtains in the industrialized Western economies where they have the financial muscle or buffers to mitigate economic shocks arising from interruptions in production processes and therefore are on partial lockdown or about to go into full lockdown .
