Pass the CORE Act, please Re: “Three acts in Congress to preserve, grow and heal our public lands,” April 11 editorial Your recent editorial made some really important points about the Colorado Outdoor Recreation and Economy (CORE) Act. First was that the public lands package in 2019 passed over the CORE Act, despite the fact that each portion of the bill was a decade in the making, by residents from the specific regions. These are true community-driven proposals, evidenced by overwhelming support from local governments and affected stakeholders including ranchers, conservationists, private property and water rights holders, businesses, and many more. ‘Spit in the face’: Super League leads to unprecedented conflict in European football
PARIS: Plans for a breakaway Super League announced by twelve of European football's most powerful clubs plunged European football into an unprecedented crisis on Monday, with threats of legal action and possible bans for players, as UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin called it a "spit in the face" for supporters. Six Premier League teams — Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur — joined forces with Spanish giants Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and Italian trio Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan to launch the planned competition. Those clubs have 40 European Cups between them, including a record 13 for Real Madrid and seven for Milan. With half of the 2021 legislative session in the books, the Colorado legislature has shown an undeniable commitment to hastily lowering jail and prison populations … not by reducing criminal conduct, but by reducing the consequences for criminal conduct. Time and again, a one-party controlled legislature has attempted to enact radical measures to address criminal justice issues on which there could be consensus solutions, if only they acted with common sense. This year some Colorado lawmakers are seeking to keep offenders from being arrested, to minimize the sentences for criminal conduct, and to wipe away the consequences for repeated criminal conduct. Peloton is fighting a recall request on its treadmill after a child died last month
Peloton is resisting a request from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to recall its Tread Plus treadmill, which was involved with the death of a child last month , the Washington Post is reporting tonight . At the time of the incident, the CPSC issued a statement that it was investigating. The agency is reportedly planning on issuing a consumer alert about the Tread Plus and may do so as early as Saturday, according to officials who spoke to the Post. One official added that “this doesn’t happen with other treadmills.” The Post’s sources tell the paper that the CPSC is aware of “‘dozens’ of incidents involving Peloton’s treadmills, some involving pets or exercise balls and many of them resulting in serious injuries.” Bloomberg notes this this past February the CPSC received a report that a three-year-old suffered a ”significant brain injury.
