PARIS: France's mountain biking Olympic champion Miguel Martinez is set to resume his career on the road at the age of 44 after signing a six-month contract with the Amore e Vita team following a 12-year hiatus. "It's a six-month renewable contract," Martinez, who won the gold medal in the cross-country mountain biking event at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, told sports daily L'Equipe on Saturday. "It's not paid but passion is more important than money." Martinez had a taste of road cycling when he finished 44th in the 2002 Tour de France with Mapei and when he rode for Phonak in 2003 and Amore e Vita in 2008 before ending his career. NEW YORK: The New York City Council on Thursday approved several bills that will legalize the private use of electric scooters and bicycles in the city's five boroughs, a change long-sought by food delivery workers and transportation advocates. The city will also create a shared electric scooter pilot program that will allow e-scooter companies to apply for permits to operate in the city, with the exception of Manhattan. E-scooter companies have long complained about not being allowed to operate in the largest U.S. city, with more than eight million residents, while permitted in dozens of other U.S. cities. The pilot program is scheduled to start by May 2021 and is expected to last no more than two years, according to the bill. Scooter placement should focus on areas underserved by the city's docked bike-share program, Citi Bike, which is operated by Lyft Inc. Pramod Kalekar, a worker on the sets of ' Savdhaan India ', was killed in a bike accident on February 13 around 4.30 am, after a shift of nearly 19-20 hours. The deceased was an Assistant Art Director on the crime show , which is being produced by Rajesh Tripathi (Ghummakad Productions). ETimes TV now has it that the shooting of the crime show had been stopped by the Federation Of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). "There was no shooting of 'Savdhaan India ' since that ill-fated day. As far as I know, we have been seeing repeat episodes of old," FWICE president B N Tewari tells us. FWICE asked producer Tripathi to pay a compensation of Rs 20 lakh to Pramod's wife, Savita Kalekar. The producer took time to shell out the amount as he argued with FWICE. The amount ordered by FWICE was Rs 50 lakh but finally the Federation consented on Rs 20 lakh.
