Portugal and Juventus' goal-scoring phenom Cristiano Ronaldo surpassed Josef Bican for the most goals scored for club and country in football history -- with his tally now at 760. The Juventus striker continued to defy his age since arriving from Real Madrid for around £100 million in 2018 - and his strike against Napoli in the Italian Super Cup on Wednesday has now moved him top of the all-time scoring charts. Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi added another feather to his illustrious cap as he bagged the best “men’s player of the decade” award on Sunday. The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) named Messi on the top position ahead of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr, and Andres Iniesta. The organization conducted a poll including its members from other 150 countries around the world to find the best men’s player over the last decade. It also picked the best player for each continent. While Ronaldo picked up the award for the UEFA region, it was Messi who triumphed globally – as well as amongst the CONMEBOL nations. The 33-year-old had a fabulous run in the last decade, picking up six La Liga titles , five Copa del Rey trophies, two Champions Leagues, and four Ballon d’Ors. SINGAPORE: The Singapore national team clinched a shock victory on Friday (Nov 9) after beating Indonesia 1-0 in its opening match of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup. In front of 30,000 supporters at the Singapore Sports Hub, the Lions clinched their first competitive victory since 2015 with a first-half strike from skipper Hariss Harun. The home side outplayed their opponents for large parts of the game, upsetting Indonesia's rhythm with intense pressing in midfield. Lions winger Yasir Hanapi almost gave Singapore the lead in the ninth minute when he was through one on one with Indonesia's goalkeeper Andritany after an incisive pass from Shakir Hamzah. But Yasir shot straight at Andritany, leaving the home fans groaning from the stands. Luis Suarez continues to have a dream start to his Atletico Madrid career has he struck twice in a 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo in a La Liga contest on Monday. The former Barcelona star struck to first draw level late into the first half before handing the lead five minutes after the restart but couldn’t prevent a draw Vigo finding a late equaliser with Atletico maintaining their lead at the top of the standings.
