NEW DELHI: Companies such as Olx , TaxiForSure and HDFC Life have started placing targeted ads on e-commerce websites , hoping to gain by catching the attention of shoppers in research or purchase mode. The arrangement signals the growing importance of e-commerce websites as a medium of advertising. While it gives e-tailers a chance to monetize traffic, it helps brands release targeted and relevant ads, which are less likely to appear as distraction to online shoppers. App-based taxi operator TaxiFor-Sure, which recently placed ads on Flipkart and Snapdeal, claims to have received good response. "Every time we put a clutter-breaking ad, we see a 200% increase in traffic. Besides traffic and transactions, we also increased our customer base by 30% through such campaigns," said a company spokesperson. Homegrown social app Chingari, a short video sharing platform, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Brian Norgard, the Chief Product Officer of Tinder, and leading French entrepreneur Fabrice Grinda, Founder of OLX. Norgard has earlier invested in startups like SpaceX, Lyft, and NotionHQ, according to a Chingari statement. Grinda has more than 200 investments in several big firms including Alibaba Group, Airbnb, Beepi, FanDuel, Palantir, and Windeln, it said. In a statement to daily Dawn , a PCB spokesperson said that the three artists were asked to do the song as the PCB wanted to feature voices that were new and had not sung any PSL anthem before. “Naseebo Lal is an extremely talented, underutilised vocalist whose voice has the strength to carry this cricket anthem,” the official said. Gautam Thakar as the global CEO of its pre-owned car marketplace OLX Autos , to manage the company’s offline and online presence across Asia, Africa, Latin America and the United States. Thakar, who will take up the role starting March 15, will manage the global operations of OLX Autos based out of India, one among the fastest-growing large used car markets in the world, and will lead a workforce of over 4,000 employees across various geographies. “It is definitely an advantage having Gautam based in India where he can stay close to the operations and customers in such a key market, while leveraging his global CEO experience to lead our businesses in timezones both east (Indonesia) and west (Americas),” said Martin Scheepbouwer, CEO at OLX Group.
