ENGLAND legend Paul Gascoigne has been showing off his dance moves ahead of being dropped into the jungle with a former Miss Italy stunner. Gazza, 53, is set to make an appearance on the Italian version of ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.’ And he worked up a sweat during an unorthodox dance show in pyjamas, slippers and shades as he got ready to board a plane to Central America to star with a former Miss Italy in Isola de Famosi - Island of the Famous. SINGAPORE: Singapore saw a decrease in the number of road traffic accidents last year - as well as fatalities and injuries resulting from these accidents - compared to 2019, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) announced on Wednesday (Feb 10). This was due in part to the COVID-19 situation, the police said, noting there was less traffic on the roads during Singapore’s two-month “circuit breaker” period - when many worked from home and social gatherings were banned as part of efforts to stem the spread of the coronavirus. Figures from the SPF’s Annual Road Traffic Situation report however showed increases in the number of both speeding-related and fatal drink-driving accidents. Elderly pedestrians and motorcyclists remain “groups of concern”, it added, noting they account for a disproportionate number of traffic accidents resulting in injuries or death. SINGAPORE: One of the most fun-filled excursions from my primary school days was a class visit to the Road Safety Park. Though it was intended to inculcate values of road safety, what most of us enjoyed about the experience was getting on the go-kart and zooming around at top speeds. This memory came to mind as I read news of proposed changes to the Road Traffic Act (RTA) tabled to Parliament for a first reading on May 6, calling for minimum mandatory sentences for dangerous driving, with additional penalties for those who do so while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Under the new law, first-time offenders who cause death by dangerous driving could face up to eight years in jail, with a two-year minimum sentence, for example.
