NEW YORK: YouTube said on Wednesday (Dec 9) it would start removing content that falsely allege widespread fraud changed the outcome of the US presidential election, in a change to its more hands-off stance on videos making similar claims. The update, which applies to content uploaded from Wednesday, comes a day after "safe harbour", a deadline set by US law for states to certify the results of the presidential election. YouTube said it would start enforcing the policy in line with its approach towards historical US presidential elections. Online platforms have been under pressure to police misinformation about the election on their sites. SINGAPORE: As COVID-19 disrupted lives all over the world, people in Singapore stayed home as well, spending more time watching videos online as they sought ways to cope amid the pandemic. In YouTube's annual news release on trending videos in Singapore, the video platform on Tuesday (Dec 1) said its watch time in the country grew by more than 30 per cent over the last year. Topping the list of trending videos was the Apr 3 national address by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, announcing the COVID-19 "circuit breaker" as the number of infections escalated in Singapore. Streamed live on CNA's YouTube channel , the video saw Mr Lee outline "significantly stricter measures" to contain the spread of the virus. As of Tuesday, the video had more than 1.7 million views. SINGAPORE: The National Day Parade (NDP) 2019 theme song, Our Singapore, took pride of place at number two on YouTube's list of top trending videos of the year in Singapore. Posted on CNA’s YouTube page , the video commemorated 200 years since the founding of modern Singapore with a mash-up of two familiar National Day Parade songs. The verses are sung by 27 local musicians from different generations including Ramli Sarip, Rahimah Rahim, Stefanie Sun, The Sam Willows, JJ Lin and Dick Lee. The NDP committee "seem to have a winning formula for their annual theme songs," YouTube noted in its media release on Thursday (Dec 5). In two TikToks, which were shared on Twitter Friday afternoon, a young man going by Isaiyah (@redzai on TikTok) claims James Charles sent him unsolicited nudes on Snapchat and pressured him into sexting even after being told Isaiyah was 16.
