SINGAPORE - Once upon a time, Children's Day was a joyous celebration of childhood in Singapore, a day to treasure the innocence and exuberance of little ones. Children's Day on Friday, though, marks eight months of the toughest and strangest year for kids. They have had to grow up suddenly in the shadow of the pandemic, often with parents who were as scared and confused as they were. "I felt kind of trapped in a cage because we were just locked into this house for 12, 13 hours a day, and we could only go outside for a short time," recalls Yaash Kirpalani, 11, of the circuit breaker. Over the months, however, tantrums transformed into habit as kids learnt to wear masks every day, trepidation over Home-Based Learning (HBL) woes evolved into baby steps towards independent learning, and misery over social isolation changed to acceptance as they found new ways to connect. The Straits Times takes a look at how the Covid-19 crisis has shaped childhood in Singapore so far this year. … [Read more...] about A lost or more resilient generation? 6 ways Covid-19 changed childhood in Singapore

Garmin Lily review: Fashionable fitness watch with a few shortcomings
Garmin Lily Women’s Fitness Classic Smartwatch Score Details “The Garmin Lily brings much-needed feminine flair to a mostly masculine fitness watch market.” Stylish, classic look Pulse oximeter Outstanding sleep and wellness tracking Decent battery life Grayscale display No onboard GPS No music storage MSRP $250.00 Smartwatches are typically built for function and not fashion, which is why the Garmin Lily stands out. Its petite round face (34.5mm) and slim 14mm band make the Lily ideal for women. It fits my wrist perfectly and is among the most comfortable … [Read more...] about Garmin Lily review: Fashionable fitness watch with a few shortcomings
Why is Saudi Prince Bin Salman not being punished for my fiance Jamal Khashoggi’s brutal murder?
SAUDI Arabia’s Crown Prince stands accused of having blood on his hands over the audacious murder of rebel journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The dissident was slain in the Saudi consulate in Turkey more than two years ago — and dramatic new evidence suggests the oil-rich nation’s ruler Mohammed bin Salman watched the killing via video link. Bin Salman, the Saudis’ Crown Prince, denies having anything to do with Jamal’s death but investigators suspect the victim was killed on camera so the murder could be overseen in his home country. The evidence features in new documentary The Dissident , directed by Oscar winner Bryan Fogel. US investigators, as well as the United Nations, believe Bin Salman backed the slaying of Jamal. The Turkish authorities recorded all of the conversations inside the Saudi consulate where the journalist was killed in October 2018. The documentary claims the murder had been planned in advance. ‘THEY START TO CUT UP THE BODY WITH A BONE SAW’ … [Read more...] about Why is Saudi Prince Bin Salman not being punished for my fiance Jamal Khashoggi’s brutal murder?

Kindly Share This Story: The death of veteran public relations practitioner and author, Mr. Olu Ademulegun (who I fondly called Egbon Olu), on Sunday, the 14th of February, 2021, a day short of his 75th birthday, must come as a shock to family and friends, including professional colleagues who shared fellowship with him in public relations circles in the 70’s and 80’s. He succumbed to Covid 19 in Lagos. I first met Mr. Ademulegun around 2002 at Fastac Town, Lagos, at the home of my Great Uncle, Surveyor Fehintola Olumide, and that marked the beginning of our relationship. Born on the 15th of February, 1946 to the Most Reverend Joel Ogunmade Ademulegun, late Primate and Arch-Bishop of the African Church Organisation, and Madam Rachael Awawu Ademulegun, both of Owo, Ondo State. He was a blue-blood, Indeed, his late Uncle, Colonel Ademulegun (Rtd) was the immediate past Olupenwen of Ipenwen-Owo, Ondo State.
