Hadley Robinson had never heard of Bikini Kill before she was cast in Moxie . Directed by Amy Poehler and based on Jennifer Mathieu’s 2017 young adult novel of the same name, the Netflix movie follows Robinson’s Vivian, a shy 16-year-old who sparks a rebellion at her high school when she starts anonymously publishing a feminist zine. Vivian is inspired, in part, by her discovery of a box in her mom’s closet loaded with riot grrrl paraphernalia — and the moment she hears the opening screech of feedback in the band’s iconic anthem “Rebel Girl,” followed by Kathleen Hanna ’s signature howl, she thrashes around her room like it’s 1993. Her 2-year-old son was shot dead during an armed gold store robbery in Lop buri, Thailand. The grieving mother recently shared a heartbreaking post on her Facebook page over the loss of her 2 year-old child.  She apologized for failing to protect their little angel and expressed how she and her husband are “almost suffocating” from their loss.
