Have you ever noticed that iOS moves around a lot? With lots of zips, zooms, motions, parallax, there’s a lot going on with the animations on iPhone and iPad If all the crazy user interface zooming in-and-out effects of iOS 12, iOS 11, iOS 10, iOS 9, iOS 8, & iOS 7 aren’t your cup of tea, you will be thrilled to discover there is an alternate subdued option available now which transforms the zoom effects into much more subtle fading transitions. This excellent option was introduced with iOS 7.0.3 in response to some usability issues, where certain users were experiencing motion sickness from the nonstop zoom motions that are seen when unlocking a device and opening and closing apps and folders. Those damned San Francisco for Macworld Expo Tourists . They march seven abreast down the sidewalks like arterial plaque, marveling at and photographing each and every manhole cover and streetlamp base just because while perfectly ordinary in most respects, they're slightly different from the ones they've got back home... all the while oblivious to the fact that you, a seasoned traveller, are hoping for an earth fissure to open underneath them so that finally you can get to the post office at something greater than the basic speed of continental drift. But for all of this marveling at the uniqueness of the alternate-side parking signs, all these Skoal-munching disposable-camera operating Co-Ed Naked Sports t-shirt wearing zeroes want to do while in The City is shop at The Sharper Image and the Virgin Megastore and see if the Big Macs taste any different over here. Last year, when Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 4, I was surprised that the company didn’t bother to update most of its watch faces , and expressed some hope that the company would place more emphasis on faces in the Series 5. Thanks to the new always-on display , Apple has definitely made watch faces the center of attention in a way they weren’t before. There’s never been a more on-the-nose Apple marketing campaign than the “The Watch Tells Time” video that Apple unveiled during its special event on September 10. And yet, while I want to report that as of 2019 Apple has prioritized the faces of the Apple Watch, I can’t. Instead, it’s given us a few encouraging new faces —and left a mess everywhere else.
