The Buffalo Police Department in New York has deployed BolaWrap for the first time, using the restraint tool last week to subdue a woman during a mental health call. On Friday, officers responded to a call about a woman who might harm herself or others and was "underdressed" in the snow, WGRZ reported. Police said they spoke to the woman at length and urged her to get into a police car to be taken for a medical evaluation. She refused, prompting officers to use BolaWrap. It allowed officers to transport the woman to hospital without anyone getting hurt, police said. BolaWrap is a hand-held device that fires a Kevlar cord that wraps around a person's arms or legs from 10 to 25 feet away. The lasso-type tool is designed to detain a person from a distance, giving officers an alternative to guns or Tasers. H&M scraps dividend due to coronavirus as all costs under review
STOCKHOLM: Sweden's H&M , the world's second largest clothing retailer, said on Monday it had decided to scrap its proposed dividend due to the coronavirus outbreak, and that it was reviewing all parts of its operations, including all costs. The historic move by H&M to scrap its dividend comes with 68 per cent of its stores currently closed as the coronavirus outbreak is hitting the global clothing retail industry relentlessly. "At the moment, a total of 3,441 of the group's 5,062 stores are closed, which together with subdued demand in the markets that are still open, has had significant negative impact on sales so far in March," the company said in a statement. H&M said several measures were being taken in respect of buying, investments, rents and staffing, among other areas. "Dialogue about temporary layoffs has been initiated in a number of markets and will be followed by further temporary layoffs in other markets that are impacted by the corona situation," … [Read more...] about H&M scraps dividend due to coronavirus as all costs under review
Julien Baker Performs ‘Hardline’ on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’
Julien Baker appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers Monday night as the musical guest, performing “Hardline” from her new album Little Oblivions with her band. In a black box performance space lit up by a handful of spotlights, Baker led the anthemic number that deals with her usual themes of depression, substance abuse, and self-forgiveness. “I always told you you could leave at any time/Until then, I’ll split the difference/Between medicine and poison/Take what I can get away with/While it burns right through my stomach,” she sang. Towards the end, the song built up into a U2-like swirl of guitars, drums, and stadium-sized synths. Baker released Little Oblivions last Friday via Matador, following 2017’s Turn Out the Lights . Along with “Hardline,” her third studio album includes the singles “Heatwave,” “ Faith Healer, ” and “ Favor ,” the latter of which features her Boygenius bandmates Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus . In an interview with Rolling … [Read more...] about Julien Baker Performs ‘Hardline’ on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’
