CVS Scheduled 25,000 COVID Vaccine Appointments For Massachusetts Teachers In 3 Days
BOSTON (CBS) — Last week, CVS listed teachers as eligible for COVID vaccine appointments in Massachusetts. New numbers show educators in the state didn’t hesitate to jump at the opportunity. A CVS spokesman tells WBZ-TV that the pharmacy chain scheduled about 25,000 appointments last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for those in Massachusetts who self-reported as a teacher. That represented 71% of all CVS vaccine appointments booked in the state over the three-day period. Managerial officers and teachers complain that, under new regulations, it is more difficult to get a promotion, especially the rank of first-class teachers. H.A.P, a high school teacher in Hai Phong, is worried that she may fall to a lower rank because she doesn’t have a master’s degree, though she met conditions to attend the exam to become a first-class teacher in 2012. She was a member of local education department’s external accreditation team and a district speaker on professional work and new teaching methods. She also participated in examining professional knowledge and expertise of teachers in schools throughout the district. She also took part in evaluating the district’s scientific research products, and acted as advisor to scientific and technological research products at the district and city levels. The billionaire ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has married a science teacher. MacKenzie Scott, who is the 22nd richest person in the world, has tied the knot with Seattle teacher Dan Jewett. The marriage was mentioned in a letter to The Giving Pledge, an organisation which encourages ultra-rich people to give away their billions. "Dan is such a great guy, and I am happy and excited for the both of them," Bezos said in a statement. Jewett said he would be signing on to Scott's commitment to give away most of her wealth. Since Scott, 50, split from the Amazon founder after 25 years of marriage in 2019 and became worth $53billion (£38billion) according to Forbes, she has set about donating.
